Let’s talk about this picture that is floating around the internet by journalist Shaun King.
Why would a bunch of white men surround a young black girl at a Trump rally? You could blame it on racism, or perhaps maybe you can blame it on the Black Lives Matter group.
I’ve stated before that the BLM group has hurt its cause more than help it. Who are the majority of protesters who have gone to these rallies and caused interruptions? Young black men and women. Now im not saying that this young lady went to this rally looking for trouble, but I don’t know too many people who go protesting with smiles on their faces. What have we been shown on tv with respect to BLM? Young black people interrupting the candidates. So when a group of white people (at a trump rally none the less) see a young black female walking around with a smile on her face, they are probably assuming trouble. Again, im not condoning their action. Hell, i’ve been nervous both times I have went to the Trump rallies, being that im Mexican. However, I’m also not trying to draw attention to myself.
Unfortunately in the digital age, people want to be seen. Even if that means you may take an ass beating or name calling. Drawing attention to yourself and being made to look like the victim is the new rage. As most of my friends know, I can not stand Hillary Clinton with a passion. But I’m not going to go to her rally and try to cause a commotion just so i can get my 15 minutes of “street cred”.
What irritates me the most is when people like Shaun King use racism and or pictures like that above and compare it to the events of today. Trying to compare these two pictures is apples to oranges.
On the left, Elizabeth Eckford, known as being a part of the Little Rock Nine, endured this crap because she wanted the equality of education. She wasn’t doing it to get her picture on the front page of the paper. She did it so she, along with other blacks can be a part of equality. The one on the right, knew she was walking into the lions den, she just wanted to stir up the people around her and get her 15 minutes of fame. Do I agree with the people around her calling her names? No. But I also know that Im not walking into a Blank Panther meeting without knowing they may think im there to cause trouble and im probably not going to be welcomed.
